Understanding cock rings

The post Understanding cock rings appeared first on FrolicMe.

Usually worn at the base of the shaft, their fundamental function is to hold your penis tight, and this leads to a firmer hard cock and fuller erection. Not only can this prolong the action, but it can also enhance pleasure for all parties involved. Also referred to as penis rings, I am a fan of these gorgeous toys. If you have seen the film Insatiable, you’ve probably noticed that Luna slipped a cock ring on Ricky and the resulting enjoyment it brought to both of them.

Keep reading to learn more as I provide a few thoughts and cock ring tips about how to find the right one for you and how to incorporate them into your sex life.

What is a cock ring?

A cock ring is a ring made from various materials depending on your preference and is worn on the penis as a pleasure enhancement. Most cock rings are made of soft, pliable, body-safe materials like stretchy silicon. These are the easiest to use. There are three main types:

The base of the shaft ring – This is the simplest and most common cockring and can be made from silicone, rubber and metals such as stainless steel. These rings can be of a fixed size or adjustable. Adjustable rings are certainly a great idea for beginners as they give you a bit of leeway in terms of size. They are also the most comfortable. Some look a bit like a figure of eight – i.e. they have two holes and you can choose which one fits best. There are vibrating cock ring options too. Some have the controls on the vibrating part of the ring, others have a remote facility (and some can even be operated by a smartphone).

Cock and ball ring – This is slightly larger and encloses both the cock and the balls together, again, they can either be stretchy or rigid.

Frenulum or helmet rings – These are mainly for adornment. They snuggle just under the head of the cock and are usually made from stainless steel or precious metals.

How to use a cock ring?

Cock rings are intended to constrict blood flow and hold everything tight, therefore putting a cockring on can sometimes be tricky. For the cockring to do its intended job, you need to choose a size slightly smaller than your own girth while erect. Be careful not to opt for too small a ring, especially if it’s made from a rigid material, or you might end up with a painfully, and potentially dangerously constricted erection.

If you are wondering how to put on a cock ring, it’s when your cock is just beginning to become erect. Use lube to ease the cockring over the head and down the shaft. For all ring types, it’s important to put them on before you are too hard. Beginners are probably best using a cockring made from stretchy silicone or other flexible material. You can buy them in various sizes so you can find a perfect fit. It’s best to experiment with this type of ring before moving on to a metal or solid one.

The most tricky to use are cock and ball rings. The key tip is to put the ring over the shaft first and ONLY then ease the balls through very slowly and carefully, one at a time. Lube can make this easier.

What does a cock ring do?

Cockrings give pleasure in different ways. The base of the shaft ring makes your erection harder and firmer than normal constricting blood flow increasing sensitivity for the wearer leading to stronger orgasms. They can also keep you erect for longer, delaying ejaculation for a more intense orgasm, and cock rings do work to help you sustain intercourse, giving your partner more time to reach orgasm climax.

Cock and ball rings hold the balls tight, which can be a wonderfully sensuous feeling. These are much trickier and a significant step up in terms of complexity. They go over both the shaft AND the balls. This holds both firmly and so does boost your erection, but the main difference is that they can squeeze the scrotum tight over the balls, which can heighten their sensitivity massively. A finger run over tightly clasped testicles is magical.

The purpose of a cock ring is more than just physical pleasure. They can provide wonderful adornment, which can really add to foreplay. If this is the main thing you are after, think about a dick ring for the frenulum. This should fit just under the helmet and will provide a bit of constriction at the tip of the penis, showcasing, if you like your tip. These look great but often come off during vaginal intercourse.

If you are purchasing for some cock ring sex with your partner (and here I only have experience of a female partner, though I am sure some of this applies to same-sex partners), you can buy rings that have a protruding nub, or ‘finger’ that provide some form of stimulation for the clitoris. Many are simple ribbed affairs which can work wonders when you are deep inside and you wriggle a little to provide some clitoral contact.

You can go a step further and get a cockring that incorporates a vibrator. This could be in a little case that doubles as a ‘finger’ on the upper side of the ring. Or it might be an insertable bullet-like vibrator, which slots into a little loop. With remotely operated versions, handing the control to your partner is, believe me quite an experience. These vibrating cockrings can lead to intense orgasms for both of you, though I tend to keep the vibrations on the low, slow side otherwise it can all be a bit too much.

Are cock rings safe?

Some cock ring tips to bear in mind – You have to be very careful about sizing and how to use a penis ring. If it is two small you might have trouble removing it and you could over-constrict your penis. If you can move it when it is on and fully erect, you are probably all right. You always need to be able to slip it off.

Considerable care needs to be given when choosing a rigid cockring and a cock and ball rings. You really don’t want to have to seek emergency medical help if you have opted for something too small. So err on the side of caution, start with a circumference only marginally smaller than your actual girth. Eventually, you’ll find the perfect size for you.

It is also really important when wearing a cock ring not to keep it on for too long, especially if it is a tight fit and crucially if it is a solid one. Keeping it on for too long, however, tempted you are, could do serious damage to your most important asset.

If in any doubt, do seek medical advice and always read the instructions carefully.

As a long time fan of cockrings and enjoying sex with a cock ring, I fully recommend taking the time to find a cockring to suit you and see how much it can enhance your sexual pleasure.
